NATURE

Delvers lack the traditional lifespan that many soul-bound creatures have. They can present themself as young or as old as they'd like physically, but all of them have the mentallity of a fully grown adult. They cannot die from old age, or any other causes for that matter. Delvers will only "die" when they tire of their current form, in which case, their body liquifies into a thick black slurry of coagulated viscera (Note: please keep your Delver away from any furniture made feom organic materials during this time, as their innards will naturally eat through them.), and their conciousness is transferred into a new body that spawns from a pool of magma (or the hottest liquid that is closest. A pot of water in a household oven will often do the trick.) This process is commonly referred to as respawning, and is as about as normal as getting a new job. In some subcommunities, the event is even celebrated, their companions from their previous form placing bets on what sin the Delver will respawn as.

ANATOMY

Delvers, despite their many differences, also have many species-wide similarities. Every Delver has at least one horn somewhere on their head, has cold black blood, and cannot maintain their true form in light. As far as true forms go, they're rather diverse! They can take on nearly any form that isnt human/oid or resembling a different Delver species. The true and curse form may share traits, or can be applied to one or the other! For example, if you had an item to add extra limbs, you could have both the true and cursed have extra arms, or have that only on the curse, or only on the true, it's up to you! Curse and true forms must somewhat resemble each other, or share a common theme, but otherwise, creativity is encouraged! If you'd like to circumvent any of these rules, a special item is required.

By nature of being unnatural, all Delvers are sexless. They can present as masculine or femmemine, but any genetalia related to those two terms are there solely for aesthetics and can be changed at will. Delvers cannot reproduce under any circumstances.

CULTURE

Being demons means that cruelty comes naturally to Delvers. Too many good deeds or kind words are socially considered bad for a Delver's health. Friendship is generally frowned upon as well. However, now with the influence of surface culture, some are expanding their horizons on interacting with their now much smaller communities. Delvers were typically solitary creatures, but now are prone to forming close knit communities, even outside of their own sin types.

Delvers in the past typically kept their relationships with one another short. These would usually be strictly for pleasure. Nearly all forms of bonds between Delvers were transactional in some way. Now, with observations of how people on the surface live, some Delvers are warming up to the idea that these don't have to just be one time flings.
